Bloomington North (4-10) lost to Franklin Central (12-3) at home in Conference Indiana action Friday night. Bloomington North battled the #12 ranked Flashes until the final buzzer as Franklin Central hit a game winning 3 pointer as time expired. North was led in scoring by Malik Laffoon’s 19 points. Riley Crean added 12 points, Musa Jallow scored 10 and Sean Rudder added 6. The Cougars are in action at Columbus East Saturday.

Bloomington North finished 7th in the Conference Indiana meet held at Columbus North. Our highest individual places were 8th place by Max Weger (200 and 500 free), Mason Morgan (50 free), and Alan Bisesi (100 fly). Our highest relay place was 5th in the 200 free relay (William Dixon, Gus Dellacqua, Max Weger, mason Morgan).

Bloomington North (4-9) dropped a home Conference Indiana contest to Terre Haute South (11-4). Terre Haute South extended their lead in the second and third quarter by scoring 25 in each quarter. North had balanced scoring with Musa Jallow scoring 24, Malik Laffoon had 13, Sean Rudder and Riley Crean had 12 each, and Holden Jastremski chipped in 10 points. North continues conference play this Friday vs. Franklin Central (10-3).

20 lifetime bests, three each by Gus Dellacqua, Gustavo Brown, and Devin Smith. All three relays were season bests. Mason Morgan won the 50 free, William Dixon the 100 free, and Drew Stults the 100 Breaststroke. The team is now 2-1 in dual meets.

Meet Recap

The Cougar girls made history last night, beating out Columbus North for the first time in the school’s history. Starting out in the 200 Medley Relay, the team of Melinda Wang, Anna Kindred, Sonia Rista and Alicia DeMars took second while Emmy Bright, Becca Belcher, Jenna Dedek and Kailah Young took third with a PR for Dedek. In the 200 Freestyle, Sarah Covey took second with a season best of 2:11.34, Sara Hosea took third and Jenna Dedek finished fourth. Rista took second in the 200 IM, followed by Young in third with a PR of 2:33.34 and Melina Raglin in fifth with a PR of 2:47.77. The 50 Freestyle was won by Melinda Wang with a best time of 25.56. Avery Covey and Becca Belcher also achieved PRs in the 50. The divers swept their event, taking first, second and third with the team of DeMars, Ryan Paquette and Greta Meya. Marni Sirota scored 137.90 in diving, which would have placed her fourth if she had not been exhibition. The Cougars had another strong showing in the 100 Butterfly, taking second, third and fourth with the team of Dedek with a season best, Savannah Stewart and Young with her second best time of the night. The 100 Freestyle was a great event with best times from Avery Covey, Mae Scott, Tatiana Huss, DeMars and Ryan Paquette. Sarah Covey had a season best in the 500 Freestyle with a 5:54.69, taking second. Hosea followed in third and Anastasia Huss finished fourth with a season best of 6:29.80. The relay team of Stewart, Bright, Kindred and Sarah Covey took first in the 200 Freestyle Relay, followed by Ryan Paquette, Belcher, Anastasia Huss and Hosea in third. Wang took second in the 100 Backstroke, followed by Bright in third and Rista in fourth. Anna Kindred won the 100 Breaststroke, followed Becca Belcher in third with a season best of 1:19.42. Melina Raglin achieved a lifetime best in the breaststroke with 1:21.55. The Cougars finished up the meet with Sarah Covey, DeMars, Rista and Wang taking second and Stewart, Dedek. Anastasia Huss and Hosea taking third.

Overall, the Cougar girls had 39 lifetime/ season bests. Great job, ladies!

Bloomington North (4-6) dropped their home match up with Whiteland (7-1), 69-64. North was led in scoring by Holden Jastremski with 20 points. Malik Laffoon added 18 points. North welcomed back, sophomore, Musa Jallow who missed the previous two games with an injury. Musa had 9 points and 5 rebounds. David Morgan and Sean Rudder added 7 and 6 points respectively. North is in action again on Friday 1/8/16 vs. Bloomington South.

Game Recap

In the Consolation game of the Shelbyville Tournament, Bloomington North, playing without leading scorer and rebounder, Musa Jallow, found themselves trailing 32-21 at halftime vs. Shelbyville. North exploded for 40 points in the second half to erase the halftime deficit and pick up their 4th win of the season with a 61-57 victory. North had great balance with Malik Laffoon scoring 19 points, David Morgan with 12 points, Holden Jastremski added 11 points, Riley Crean had 10 points, and Sean Rudder chipped in 9 points. North moves to 4-5 on the season and will face Whiteland at home on 1/2/16.
