Game Recap

Despite the lopsided score, this was arguably the Cougars best played game of the season to date. Against the run of play Evansville North took the lead off of an early PK call and then followed that up with a highly questionable goal off of a corner kick to take the 2-0 halftime advantage.

In the second half the Cougars controlled the possession and kept the ball on the offensive end much of the half and were able to finally score off of a cross from Grace Saccone on the left side into the box where Abby Cannon fought through the defense to smash the ball into the goal. With the game at 2-1 with under 15 to play the Cougars pushed hard for the equalizer, but another unfortunate free kick outside the box proved costly to the cougars. Evansville North took a great shot that was incredibly saved by keeper Katie Carver, but the ensuing rebound found an unmarked opponent who scored the back breaker to make it 3-1. Minutes later Evansville North scored again to win the game 4-1.

An unfortunately finish to a well played game. The cougars will look to clean up their mistakes, sharpen their play, and go for the win against Columbus North on Wednesday (8/26).
